I've been out of the dating scene for a while now, still hurting from my last breakup my ex was 10 yrs older than me & it was a pretty intense relationship we were together for 5 yrs before they called it off said I was too young for them... I'm a manglik which didnt help things with their family my in laws never really approved of me anyway... I'm trying to move on but its hard I feel like I'm not ready to open up to someone new yet but at the same time I dont want to be alone forever I've been talking to this one guy online he seems nice but I'm scared of getting hurt again how do I know if I'm ready to start dating again

i dated someone 15 years older and when it ended i felt totally lost too. it takes time to figure out who you are again after being with someone that intense. i started small — went on walks alone, rewatched my favorite dumb movies, just let myself feel like crap without judgment. what helped most was talking to one friend who didnt give advice, she just listened. maybe find that person for you. i also blocked my ex on everything after 6 months and it made space for new thoughts to come in. not saying you need to date now, but when you feel even a tiny bit curious about someone, let yourself notice. curiosity isnt betrayal. i joined a book club just to be around people, no pressure to flirt. took me 8 months before i smiled at someone without thinking of my ex first. you’ll know when you’re ready. until then, its okay to just exist. warmth feels different when youre healing.
