Family won't accept him over university

my parents did the same thing when i dated someone from a 'lesser' school. they pulled the whole 'think about your future' speech like i was making a career move not dating someone i liked. it sucked. i almost walked away too... but then i asked myself how many guys actually treated me well and listened like he does. turned out not many. instead of arguing with them, i invited him over for a casual dinner. let them see how he is—respectful, funny, actually remembers mom’s name. they didnt melt right away but it helped. also told my mom point blank: 'you wanted me to find someone kind and responsible. i did. why does the school name matter more than that' gave her pause. you dont have to shut them out but dont let their checklist erase what you actually feel. sometimes they just need to see you mean it
