How do I make my family accept my husband?
So my husband & I have been married for almost two years now. We met in grad school, fell hard, got married despite the whole Manglik thing my mom kept bringing up. But honestly that’s not even the main issue. It’s his financial background. He grew up poor—single mom, scholarships, worked through school. My family’s not rich but we’re stable, you know? Comfortable. They keep making little comments like “he’ll never provide like you deserve” or “wait till the real world hits.” One aunt even asked if he’s “just marrying you for a visa.” Which is wild because he’s a green card holder already. Last Diwali, my mom didn’t even put his name on the family invitation list. Just mine. I lost it. We barely spoke for weeks. He handles it way better than I do, which kills me. He says “your family, their views” like it’s nothing. But it’s everything. I love him so much, especially in the bedroom—we fit in every way that matters. How do I get them to see him? Really see him? And when do I stop fighting for their approval?
