He promised marriage after we got close — now he vanished?

1

We were together for 8 months. Met through a mutual friend, and things got serious fast. He kept saying, 'After we’re intimate, I’ll ask you to marry me — my family expects it that way.' Tbh, I had doubts but I trusted him. We finally slept together last month and two weeks later — radio silence. Calls go to voicemail, messages read but no reply. My cousin saw him at a café with another girl, laughing like nothing happened. I’m embarrassed — my parents already liked him, we talked about the future, even looked at rings. I keep checking his socials like an idiot. Part of me thinks he’s scared, maybe family pressure? But ghosting me after saying those things… ngl, it’s killing me. What do I even do now? I can’t just show up at his door. My mom keeps asking when we’ll set a date — I don’t know how to tell her. Feels like I’ve been erased.

My ex pulled the same crap — said he just needed to ‘feel the connection’ before proposing and then ghosted me a week after we slept together. I cried for two days straight and then realized something he’s showing you exactly who he is and you’d be stupid to ignore it. Block him everywhere for at least 30 days — seriously. No checking his socials no asking friends for updates. I waited four months before I found out he’d already proposed to someone else — totally different timeline than what he told me. The shame you feel? Totally normal but misplaced — he’s the one who lied not you. Write down everything you’d say to him in a letter but don’t send it burn it instead. I did that and it helped more than therapy. And tell your parents the truth not to shame him but to protect your own peace they’ll understand. You deserve someone whose actions match their words not someone who treats marriage like a transaction.
