okay so this is gonna sound insane but — my boyfriend is manglik, and his parents just dropped this whole thing on me last weekend. they say he has to ‘marry’ a banana tree before we can have a real wedding. like, full ceremony, priest, the works. ngl i laughed at first thinking it was a joke but they’re dead serious.

he’s torn — he doesn’t really believe in it, but he’s scared of letting his parents down. and honestly? it’s making me question everything. we’ve been together 3 years, live together, talk about kids eventually — but now i’m supposed to watch him go through some ritual with a tree? it feels disrespectful, like i’m not enough or something.

last night we got into this fight because i said maybe we should delay the wedding and he got quiet — just shut down. i think he’s avoiding the hard conversation.

is this normal? am i overreacting? i love him but this whole thing is messing with my head — and honestly, it’s starting to affect things in the bedroom too. i can’t relax when i feel like i’m competing with a tree.

so i've been in a similair situation with my partner, his family is really into astrology too and they wanted us to do this whole seperate ceremony to 'clear' our stars or somthing. tbh it was pretty weird at first but we ended up doing it and it actually brought us closer to his family. my advice would be to have an open conversation with your boyfriend and his parents, try to understnd where they're coming from and see if you can find a compromize. maybe you can do a smaller ceremony or somthing that still honors thier traditions but doesnt feel too crazy for you. lol i know it sounds weird but trust me it can work
