She said she loved me, then shut down overnight

0

We were talking every day for months, planning trips, even mentioned to our families... then one night she says 'I love you' out of nowhere, and the next morning it’s like a switch flipped. She stopped replying for days, and when she did, it was short answers, no emojis, like I offended her. I asked if I did something wrong and she said 'I just need space' — but we weren’t even officially dating, just really close. I keep thinking maybe I moved too fast? But she was the one bringing up future stuff... My mom keeps asking if we’re getting serious, and I don’t even know what to say anymore. It’s embarrassing. One minute she’s sending me good morning texts with hearts, the next... nothing. Like I’m a stranger. Did I imagine everything? Or is this her way of pulling back because of family pressure? I don’t know if I should wait or just let go...

So this happened to me two years ago and I was totally confused, same vibe. She said 'I love you' first too, then ghosted for days. Took me a minute to realize she wasn’t mad at me — she freaked out because the feelings got real, fast. Like, the 'I love you' might’ve scared *her*, not because she didn’t mean it, but because it opened a door she wasn’t ready to walk through. I kept texting, asking what I did wrong, and honestly that pushed her further. What helped? I backed off for a week, then sent one light message — not heavy, just 'Hey, no pressure, but I miss talking to you' — and gave her room to respond when she could breathe. She came back after four days and said she panicked. We talked, set clearer expectations, and it worked. Give her space, but don’t disappear. Just chill, stay calm, and leave the door open without leaning on the frame. Also lol — she probably overthought the trips, family stuff, all of it. It’s not you. Not yet, anyway.
